SISTERHEARTS
Chief Creative Officer and Personal Advisor to Maryam Henderson Uloho, CEO and Founder of SisterHearts Inc.
I have been supporting Maryam on her journey to reimagine the prison system and process for the last 7 years. From her own experience, SisterHearts CEO and Founder, Maryam, knew that incarceration and current reentry programs do not rehabilitate inmates or prepare them for reentry to the world outside prison from an internal perspective.
She developed the concept of Decarceration and designed the first Decarceration support program that identifies incarceration trauma as the core obstacle to successful reentry. She believes that incarceration without Decarceration can lead to recidivism.
Essentially, Decarceration focuses on breaking down negative behaviors and habits that lead up to and build during incarceration. By providing knowledge of institutionalized self-awareness, individuals can recover from prison trauma.
They can rebuild their sense of identity, self-worth, autonomy, and empowerment in a compassionate but challenging environment based on the internal dynamics of personal choice, change, growth, and accountability.
Together we have successfully launched a pilot program and currently entered into one of the most renowned New Orleans prisons.
Maryam has been featured nationally in a short documentary, in various news outlets, and on the latest season 7 of Queer Eye. Decarceration for belonging!

Sister Hearts
As strategic partner, we are amplifying Maryams mini-doc. Creating assets and extended stories we were able to secure multiple media opportunities including an episode on Queer Eye season 7.
The Decarceration Program
Over the past 6 years, Maryam and I have been developing the Decrceration program. Co-writing and crafting the curriculum, journey, and program modules we have the Nation’s first Decrceration Program running in New Orleans Parish with the first 17 inmates.
Decarceration Guide - Vol. 1
Maryam and I created a guide that breaks down the Decarceration program efforts. It serves as a double sword to break the barriers in normalizing the talk about incarceration and to introduce SisterHearts as a beacon of light for those with prison trauma. The guide is for sale on the SisterHerats website and distributed to future investors and businesses.
Creative Direction
I developed the creative direction, brand strategy, and identity for SisterHearts. Design courtesy of Hilary Bouvier Hilco. Working closely with Hilary we created an identity and design system for SisterHearts that is friendly and future-facing.
